Open-Source TraitSwap & LootBox Template for Algorand NFT Projects

We have built and open-sourced a production-ready, white-label template that gives any Algorand NFT project two powerful utilities: trait swapping and a loot box system.

Trait Swapping (ARC-19)

Holders can browse available traits, preview them on their NFT, and apply them with a single transaction. The system composites layered trait images, uploads to IPFS via Pinata, and updates on-chain metadata via an asset config transaction — all server-side, so the user only signs one payment. Projects configure their own trait catalog, pricing, and layer structure.

Loot Box (Commit-Reveal + VRF)

A commit-reveal system with verifiable on-chain randomness. The TEALScript smart contract uses a PCG32 RNG (based on Giorgio Ciotti's open-source lib-pcg-avm) seeded by Algorand's VRF beacon. Users pay, commit a round, wait 8+ rounds, then reveal — the contract derives a verifiable random value for weighted prize selection. Projects configure prize tiers, weights, and rarities; prizes (fungible tokens and unique NFTs) are distributed automatically from a server-side master wallet.

White-Label & Ready to Deploy

All configuration is centralized — collection addresses, trait definitions, prize tiers, site branding — so any project can swap in their assets and deploy without touching core logic. Supports Pera, Defly, and Lute wallets. Built on Next.js 14. Includes preview modes for safe testing before going live.

Admin Panel

Wallet-signature authenticated admin panel (no passwords) for prize configuration, treasury and master wallet balances, ASA opt-in, and prize pool inventory.

Why this matters for Algorand

Trait swapping and loot boxes are proven engagement and revenue tools, but building them from scratch requires deep knowledge of ARC-19 updates, IPFS pinning, commit-reveal patterns, VRF randomness, and server-side wallet management. This template packages all of that into a documented, deployable starting point — lowering the barrier for every NFT project on Algorand.

A key part of the MONSTRS model is reinvesting 50% of all loot box fees back into the Algorand NFT community by purchasing NFTs from other projects. Open-sourcing this template means any project can adopt the same flywheel — more loot boxes across the ecosystem means more revenue flowing back to NFT artists and builders.
