TEAL Visual Studio Code Extension

The proposal covers an existing Visual Studio Code extension for TEAL. The extension adds TEAL language support to the editor. It’s easy to install and begin with and provides the following features:

• Accurate error reporting - tightly couples with go-algorand codebase to display the same error details you would get while compiling the TEAL code for production but there’s no need to run a node at all
• AVM v12 - supports all the opcodes and fields up to the latest AVM version
• Code completion - suggests opcodes while typing or activated manually
• Signature help - displays opcodes signature information popup
• Hover info - documentation appears when hovering over an opcode
• Go to definition - jump to a referenced label or define
• Go to symbol - search and go to labels or defines
• Document outline - see all the labels in the Outline view
• Syntax highlighting - semantic-aware code highlighting
• Rename symbol - rename labels directly or via references
• Syntax validation - list syntax errors in the Problems tab
• Create missing label - add a missing label, referenced by opcodes
• Check for updates - automatically check for TEAL LSP server updates
• Compatible with Windows, Linux, macOS
• Works well with GitHub Codespaces!

About the team Marcin Zawiejski (dragmz / mzdrag) - an experienced developer contributing to Algorand for a long time:

• developed pyagg and rsagg - GPU-accelerated Algorand vanity address generators in Python (xGov sponsored) and Rust
• Build-a-Bull hackathon participant (CnC: Claim & Conquer strategy game; 100% on-chain logic on Algorand)

Additional Info The extension has been first released in 2022 and has been periodically updated since then. With the proposal funded, I'm committing to do best effort maintenance of the repositories for at least 3 months as an extra.
