# Algorand Specifications

The seed is a 256-bit integer.

Seeds are validated and updated according to the [specification of the Algorand Byzantine Fault Tolerance protocol](https://specs.algorand.co/abft/abft).

The SeedSeed procedure specified there returns the seed from the desired round.
