Feedback requested on proposed Q3 2022 Governance Measures
The Algorand Foundation seeks feedback from the community on proposed ballot measures we are considering putting forward for the upcoming Governance voting session in September. Below we describe the measures that we are preparing, their rationale and their possible technical implementation, following a community-driven approach.
Key Points
- We have worked on the involvement of community thought leaders through verticals. @Adri is organizing a Twitter space in the next 24 hours to go through that as well. Staci will join the space as well.
- Discussion is starting now that the two just approved measures are up and running. Many inputs came already from the community in the previous quarter.
- Regarding proposed Measure 2, to allow DEX users to participate in governance, there was a general agreement that criteria for eligible Liquidity Pool tokens have to be as objective as possible.
Recent Discussions
- I do not like vetoes too much, including having too many Yes or No votes that look like vetoes. The community, by its sheer size, activity, and decentralized knowledge, can give an essential contribution.
- I have spent 20 years in traditional finance, and I can assure you that I have seen more often everyday people lose everything in traditional finance than in crypto.
- Thank you @Domenico for aligning with what the Foundation is thinking for the next quarters: incentivizing different options to use Algo stake to support the ecosystem. All who provide continued service and support should be given the right to vote.
- As @holistic states, there is a Foundation’s role with DeFi on providing liquidity and resources to platforms. We want DeFi to be part of governance.
Next Steps
- The community is encouraged to review and provide feedback on the proposed measures discussed above. Your insights and analyses can greatly enhance how we move forward in our principal governance approach.
