GP14 TDR Proposal - Messina

As we step towards 2025 with new energy and focus, we present our TDR14 proposal. Building on our core mission to make options markets and alternative DeFi products accessible, engaging, and rewarding, this proposal outlines a strategic allocation of rewards to drive user behavior, attract new capital, and enhance engagement in our platform.

The Mission:

It’s our goal to further grow Messina as a liquid staking and interoperability household name, blending the appeal of entertainment, fun, and even memes with the functionality of cross-chain DeFi and passive yield generation. Our goal with this allocation is to enhance liquidity and tradability of our core products.

I’ve been unwell, so apologies for the delayed reply. This proposal is on a fairly short turnaround especially considering the current TDR period is actually only halfway through and our first version of Token Wars ended just days ago. We’re going to need more time than 7-10 days to finalize the full proposal.

Considering the success and positive feedback on our previous proposal, we have kept it largely similar. The intention is to further strengthen the appeal of liquid staking on Algorand, especially with stable asset pairs, in addition to creating attractive yield opportunities for alien assets bridging into our ecosystem.

Our proposal (165,795 ALGO) intends to bolster the various key assets on the AlgoRai protocol. We also aim to develop new offerings that not only uphold the core principles of AlgoRai but also appeal to a broader spectrum of users while adapting to market trends and conditions.

We have removed the welcome bonus and referral bonus models from the proposal as we agree these are prone to abuse and are likely targeted by farmers. Instead, we increased the allocation for the vaults and added an extra 10% to the User Generated Content pool. With AlgoRai, we realize education is crucial for sustaining community engagement.

By making it harder for people that intend to abuse the program, it at the same time also makes it more cumbersome for genuine users. Can’t avoid that really. I personally think completing a task in a gamification environment to get an immediate 10% bonus on your stake isn’t too much of an overhead.

Stacking TDR rewards on top of governance rewards was very poorly received, and one of the attention points by critics during the previous two periods. So that’s a matter of opinions. We will not be allocating 100% to boost governance rewards, but we probably will do a portion depending on the pending feedback from the community.

Overall, we are excited about enhancing the user experience and are looking forward to facilitating a productive discussion surrounding this proposal, ensuring that it aligns well with the community's interests and the growth of the Algorand ecosystem.
