GP8 Measures DRAFT DeFi Rewards Allocation Q4
My view is that as a community we’re not getting very much out of the Governance rewards program. Current programming squanders both time and financial resources (42 million ALGO each quarter). Allocating a significant amount of ALGO purely dedicated toward answering a handful of questions every quarter seems ineffective.
Governance Period 6 Draft Measures - Community Check In
Appreciate the feedback. In my opinion, I go back to the notion that blockchain in general feels like its Microsoft in search of Windows 95. It's just so early. There are too many barriers to drive mass adoption; the technology is clunky, you need to remember a pass code, store it securely, and much more.
Thank you for the response, @Adri. My view (and I think the view of a lot in the community) is that when it came to maybe the most critical issue in Gov 5 - offering no change to rewards - this option was voiced loudly, and the foundation refused to put it up for a vote. The most important decision was sidelined.
Governance Period 6 Draft Measures - Community Check In
Serious question: why seek the community’s feedback? We did this last quarter, and there were consensus views from the community that were not implemented before the vote. My two cents: why get into the business of bailing out anyone? Why not just let market forces work? There’s plenty of room for improvement.
Binance risk and USDCa
Given the recent FTX collapse, it's safe to say Algorand’s exposure could have been much worse since the Foundation only lost $1m USD tied to the recent USDCa listing news. Do we really want the Foundation to formally promote a Binance listing of USDCa in the future? It's a tough position to be in.
Feedback request on proposed Q4 2022 governance measures
I’ve always thought of Algorand as a gateway to real-world utility and a bridge from TradFi, providing guardrails for the banking system and corporate Internet of Things databases, etc. I understood that this would require a long-term build-out for that type of adoption.
The tone of these measures comes across as not well thought through/sloppy, which can easily be interpreted as hiding information at a high-risk moment for the industry. MEASURE 1: Why does the answer have to be binary and not a spectrum? For example, why can’t you simply provide a sliding scale as an option?
