Brief Randomness Beacon availability incident

The delicious irony is that the configuration change was part of changes that we are making for better observability and alerting for potential issues.

Earlier today we had an brief availability incident with the Randomness Beacon we run at the Algorand Foundation. The backend service submitting VRF proofs was unavailable for about 23 minutes. After that, the service was restarted and the proofs were caught up within 11 minutes. Data here:

But, don’t let that mean that you can’t take action on your own! If you’ve found the absolute best incentive first try, then all marketplaces should also run single winner primary rewards and we can really see the ecosystem takeoff.

The role of Xgov should not be that of a VC - speculatively gambling on future outcomes. It should be to reward those who are ACTIVELY MAKING AN IMPACT already as they are not receiving ANY support. Retroactive funding based on impact completely removes the issue but I guess it’s too radical to fund…
