Use-Wallet: Open-Source Wallet Integration Library for Algorand
This is a topic to discuss the xGov proposal for Use-Wallet from TxnLab.
Summary
This proposal requests 250,000 ALGO in retroactive funding to cover 6 months of maintenance, development, and community support for @txnlab/use-wallet ( GitHub - TxnLab/use-wallet: A framework agnostic wallet integrati…
Hi all! We are submitting this proposal for Use-Wallet maintenance.
Use-Wallet is an open-source, framework-agnostic wallet integration library maintained by TxnLab. It enables Algorand dApps to seamlessly integrate with multiple wallets including Pera, Defly, Exodus, Lute, Kibisis, and WalletConne…
Algorand governance
Algorand governance is not a protocol. It’s a single off-chain script that scrapes the indexer, tallies balances, and writes to a database that only the Foundation has access to. That script has been tweaked in the past to include LP tokens, LSTs, etc.
The xGov Council Call for Applications
Will staked ALGO be counted?
The xGov Council: Shaping the future of xGov
I believe council members should be able to submit proposals but should need to abstain from voting on their own proposals. If they’re building open source public goods that are providing value they should be able to be rewarded for that. I worry the best suited for the council wouldn’t want to join…
GP13 Governance Measures
Thank you! Looking forward to seeing this new structure take shape.
Great updates! I have a question on this part -
When you participate in a pooling solution (like Reti Pooling) the account that is actually participating is a contract account. The xGov voting power will need to be given to the owner of the pool - not the pool contract itself.
Open-source is net positive for the ecosystem and society.
Open-source cuts both ways - you can gain from others and others can gain from you. I believe people are upset because they’re only seeing half of the equation, viewing someone else as benefiting from the hard-work of Algorand, and that is …
GP12 DeFi Rewards (TDR) Proposal - Messina
I suppose paying it out in mALGO adds a bit more friction, but not enough on its own to make it unattractive for opportunistic people. If someone can increase their APY by sybil attacking the rewards they probably won’t mind needing to do one additional step of swapping the mALGO to ALGO.
Great proposal - but I also want to add a comment about the ‘new user’ allocation.
I worry greatly this will be abused hard. It would be trivial to take 100k ALGO, separate it into 100 different accounts and mint 1000 mALGO from each, netting 10k ALGO + the rewards from the period. You’d be effectively…
Update: The xGov validator checks were failing due to having the proposal labeled proactive and retroactive.
I have altered the proposal to only be retroactive. I have also updated the delivery date to May 1st, 2024. The current xGov template is not suited well for retroactive grants. It’s unclear …
The purpose of this xGov proposal is to fund work on and maintenance of @txnlab/use-wallet.
Please find the full proposal here: xGov-186 Use-Wallet is a React library that provides a simplified, consistent interface for integrating multiple Algorand wallets into decentralized applications.
Xgov and network security have nothing to do with each other.
Why are we trying to use Xgov as a way to get people running nodes? Shouldn’t that be handled by node incentives? This is 100% a whales game now, not experts making hard choices on public goods funding.
Ideas to improve the existing funding applications template?
Hey Adri, could you please take a look at this prior to the twitter spaces so we can discuss it?
Just because it’s possible to get retroactive grants thru Xgov doesn’t mean it’s substantial, efficient or effective.
It’s a lot more than just me saying it sucks. I believe I outlined this in my blog which was in depth on why RPGF works significantly better than w/e Xgov is. I know Xgov is a pil…
Can we host a twitter space and discuss retroactive vs proactive grants?
I really feel this needs to be discussed. Looking over the current Xgov proposals and the value and impact they’ll deliver is completely unclear.
