Feedback on Governance Measures

I constantly hear folks asking for rewards for running participation nodes, without truly understanding Silvio's rationale and PPoS core principles. We need Silvio to periodically remind folks and tame their obsession with rewards for participation node runners.
The bottom line is that the network …

Wasting time debating about rewards is the very reason we should get rid of Governance rewards. It is holding us back. We should be focusing on building xGov and ecosystem growth initiatives, but instead, we have been debating and voting on Governance rewards from the very first vote.

I agree that we definitely disagree. We want strong ALGO holders that are active, participate, and create value in the ecosystem. If you are here to collect on Governance ALGO free money, then you prove my point that Governance rewards were a crucial mistake. Free money is always a huge mistake.

I agree and support zero Governance ALGO rewards. Being an ALGO holder is incentive enough to participate in Governor. By being an ALGO holder, you are incentivized to maximize Algorand ecosystem growth, which maximizes ALGO value for the ALGO holder.

If the goal is to incentivize DeFi participation, then let’s really incentivize it. The Governance DeFi reward pool should carry greater weight than the Governance non-DeFi reward pool. In addition, DeFi participation has substantially more risk.

I hope it’s ok to leave a response being a non-expert and just an average algo user. These are clear and well thought through proposals which are an interesting idea for discussion. I am personally against the whole way governance is implemented at the moment.

If you check flow, Solana etc it’s just another cryptocurrency ALGORAND. If it was real we wouldn’t be on their track and with rank 47. If you need adoption you need to handle criticism and not just try to cover up failures.

Everything is useless unless something is up and running. Their marketing campaign looks bluff. Nothing is being done just promises and high TPS with centralized relay nodes and no adoption.

Dapps are not building on Algorand currently. The partnership with bad low-quality cryptos are growing rather than solid ones. Selected relay nodes not enough to decentralize it for the world.

If Algorand's governance is based on 1 ALGO one vote then it’s definitely not going to work. The rich gets to control the network, leading to inequality among people.

To the contrary, you cannot call Algorand the strongest network. Your million users statement can be proven easily false. There are only 45k 1k ALGO accounts.

During the reporting period, 549.1M ALGO have entered circulation through rewards, staking, and vesting. Participation rewards distributed were 124.7M ALGO.

If transparency can be improved, what will be the long-term incentives for relay nodes? The Algorand foundation maintains a limited list of relay nodes, which could lead to issues down the line.

Grants should totally be up to the community to decide. The Algorand foundation is wasting grants in the short term, which makes me nervous.
