Brief Randomness Beacon Availability Incident

Earlier today we had a brief availability incident with the Randomness Beacon we run at the Algorand Foundation. The backend service submitting VRF proofs was unavailable for about 23 minutes. After that, the service was restarted and the proofs were caught up within 11 minutes.

Introduction

As Algorand progresses towards implementing a peer-to-peer gossip protocol, the Relay Program is undergoing a significant directional shift. Traditionally, Algorand nodes require relays for intercommunication, embodying a classic hub and spoke model. The forthcoming peer-to-peer architecture aims to enhance this setup.

Algorand Indexer v3.5.0 and Conduit v1.7.0 were published on June 17, 2024. We are pleased to announce updates for conduit and indexer, which includes updates to the current version of SDKs, adds new fields, and updates software for performance and security.
